Staff Profiles

Name
Aven S. Noah
"Bala Aven" the name and the voice is synonymous with radio in the Torres Strait. Bala Aven started with TSIMA from its humble beginnings when there was only a 2-hour window on the ABC radio network. Today, almost 25 years later and with 24-hour broadcasting capability, Bala Aven is still in the chair keeping regional issues alive as host of the very popular 'Public Meeting' program. Radio is still his No.1 passion and as Managing Director of TSIMA his focus is now on networking the Torres Strait Islands via the RIBS program.
Jenni Enosa
"Sissy Jenni" joined TSIMA over a decade ago bringing into the organisation her rich cultural knowledge and bilingual skills which was a major plus for the station back then. She's the first TSIMA staff member to graduate with an Associate Diploma (Broadcasting) and today, proudly holds the position of Station Manager. Sissy Jenni is the presenter of our prime time programs - 'Current Affairs' and 'Community Focus' and once a week she goes national on the NIRS network giving mainland listeners a glimpse into homeland affairs on her program 'Straight from the Straits'. Sissy Jenni has gone from reel to reel to a computerised broadcasting system (not that she's complaining) and has her hands full with the day to day running of the Station.
Janelle Gebadi
"Galai Ama" anchors the two-hour 4MW Brekky Show. After the 7 o'clock news she gives acknowledgement to the owners of the land, the Kaurareg nation where 4MW is based then in our usual way she plays an Amen wed followed by a scriptual reading to kick start the day. She ends her program with the Secret Sound segment at 10 to 9 and hands over the mic to our Public Meeting facilitator, Bala Aven at 9 o'clock. Galai Ama is also the presenter of NPA Voices, Cultural Connections, Baha Bi Buya, Our Stories and Education Hour. Our demographics survey asked for more content on culture, education and NPA news and Galai Ama has responded. If there are two words to describe commitment, it's 'Galai Ama' otherwise who else would come in every morning at 6 o'clock to make sure you wake up to a friendly voice on Radio 4MW?
Daisy Aniba
Daisy is in charge of Finance. Her many tasks include ensuring our funding obligations are met, book-keeping, payroll, grant acquittals and making sure the administration side of the business runs smoothly. She also assists the Managing Director and provides administration support to the Board of Directors.
Melora Noah
Melora is in project management and her main tasks include ensuring systems and processes are in place throughout the organisation; analysing new business opportunities and overseeing the sales and marketing department.
